Quick-Up The Eureka 71B Hand-Held
Formally named Quick-Up The Eureka 71B Hand-Held is a powerful hand held vacuum cleaner, portable enough to carry to your car and does a super job on sofas, and carpeted stairs. This model features two motors, one to power the revolving brush and one for suction, also featuring a 5.5 amp motor the vacuum cleans deep down. A long 20-foot cord (which wraps for storage) provides good reach, as does the deluxe hose that stretches to three times its length and is very reasonably priced at under $43 plus tax with free shipping.
- Strong 5.5 amp suction with stretch hose cleans cars, upholstery, stairs
- 1 motor powers the revolving brush, second motor for suction Onboard
- crevice tool; Riser Visor for carpeted stairs and upholstery
- Bagless filter and clear dust cup clean easily
- Eureka 71B Hand-Held vac Weighs 5 pounds; 20-foot cord wraps for storage
- On/off brush roll picks up dirt from bare floors and area rugs.
This Eureka model also has a rotating brush roller with on/off function and a Riser Visor, a clear plastic cover that stays down for cleaning horizontal surfaces and flips up so the revolving brush can reach the vertical carpet on stair risers and the back of sofas and upholstered chairs. With the crevice tool on the end of the hose, this vacuum easily gets into tight places. There’s no bag to change, just a filter and clear plastic dust cup to shake out when necessary and as one reviewer puts it “comes packaged in protective plastic that can be easily removed without knives, pliers, bolt cutters, or a chain saw”.
What People are Saying
There were literally dozens of 4 and 5-star positive reviews and well over 90% gave this vacuum their highest rating.. Most reviewers agreed the Eureka 71B Hand-Held Vacuum was a powerful cleaning machine although they also found it to be a bit on the heavy side weighing 5 lb. and found it to be somewhat loud but no more than most vacuum cleaners. It is designed for cars, stairs, and other small pick-up jobs and not for vacuuming larger carpets.
In almost all the reviews we found, people seemed happy with the vacuum. There was the odd negative comment that it was a bit bulky and heavy for them with one lady saying that both she and her mother both had cramping in their hands after using the vacuum on the stairs and thought it might be to do with the angle of the handle. The only complaint we found on that issue.
Most reviewers commented that this vacuum cleaner was great for getting pet hair off the furniture and carpet, with a few saying they did not feel that it did as good a job with their dog’s hair as they thought it should with others saying if you own a dog you need this vacuum! It’s perfect and that the Eureka is as good as it gets!
One person had this to say and I am quoting:
“I’m shocked at how well this little vacuum works. After vacuuming with my expensive German-made vacuum, I used this machine over the same area. I could not believe how much dog hair and dust this hand-held unit picked up..did one-bedroom and emptied the canister four times.” and yet another quote from another satisfied customer:
One lady said she was so impressed she was buying one for her mom
People are Recommending the best vaccum cleaner
And yet another said, “At this price, you cannot go wrong – would definitely be recommended to all of you who have pets.”
One lady said “I whip it out after baking when flour is all over the place; after grooming our Shih-Tzu, when her fur is all over; when leaves blow in the window; for small spills; when my husband builds things that leave wood shavings around; whatever!
It’s great. The small filter seems to clean easily and seems long-lasting.
I highly recommend this powerful mini-vac for quick uses.”
Some people mentioned that the filter (which is washable) seems to be very durable and that it was easy to remove and reattach although many complained that the filter gets clogged and dirty really fast and is a bit of work to clean off. A few people said they cleaned it with a small brush such as a toothbrush, shaving or beard brush. A couple of people said they use a compressed air duster can (the kind you buy to clean computer keyboards to blow all the dust and dog hair off of the filter. Some thought the filter took too long to dry after being washed. Someone suggested using a blow dryer on a low setting.
Many reviewers did complain that hair accumulates around the roller brush bristles and that it was a pain to pull off and that it does not come out allowing for easy removal of hair with one person stating that over time they lost more and more bristles which had hair tangled in them. When they tried to remove the roller brush to see if it could be cleaned easier it snapped a cheap plastic part. It is definitely not meant to be taken out.
Every Feature is important
Since there’s no fancy coupling required to attach tools to the hose end of this one, its just friction, most fit it.
One reviewer, in particular, complained about the positioning of the hose stating that seeing as the hose is mounted on the left-hand side that it was very awkward and unwieldy to vacuum with the short hose in the right hand while holding the
machine with the left hand saying also that they attach to the end of the hose a much longer hose from another vacuum for most of the cleaning which would make it easier.
Note: You can also purchase other types of cleaning tools and extensions that will attach to the vacuum’s hose.
Be aware that it blows a lot of air out of the back. It can scatter whatever you are picking up if you aren’t careful especially on hard surfaces. Most vacs do the same thing at least the air in this one blows back unlike some vacuums making it easier to angle the vacuum so that it does not blow stuff around. No biggie if you are careful. Someone compared it to a mini leaf blower.
I agree with the mention that the rotating brush head is a rare feature in a handheld unit of this size and price range, and it works much better than just suction alone. They went on to say that because of the length of the unit it is sometimes difficult to get the brush head flat against the carpet in narrow staircases and on the carpeted areas in small cars and that you may find yourself constantly flipping the unit from left to right and from vertical to horizontal to get the carpet clean in tight places and decide to use the hose and crevice tool instead of the rotating brush head. They thought the Eureka 71B Hand-Held Vacuum would be more useful in tight spaces if it were a few inches shorter.
There is one attachment (crevice tool) that attaches to the hose to reach tight places and it is secured under the vacuum where some thought was a great storing place for this piece while another said ” this piece has fallen out a couple of times. In addition, it also keeps the vacuum from sitting flush on the shelf. So I am taking off one star because of it.” She also said that she would still recommend this Eureka.
We found a couple of reviews where people were skeptical about the 12″ hose being a joke but it is supposed to stretch up to 3 x its size according to the manufacturer’s description.
Quote from yet another reviewer “This little unit beats all other handheld vacuums I have ever used. The rotating brush in this vacuum combined with the power of a corded vacuum is just the perfect combination.”
While the cord limits the portability somewhat, and this vacuum is a little heavier than rechargeable units, the additional power is well worth it.”
One person stated that after a year they still love this vacuum cleaner although The Brush-Roll motor did go out after a few months, Eureka replaced the vacuum under warranty and they have not had any problem since.
The riser visor on the front vacuum brush area can be to the bottom of the front of the vacuum cleaner, so you can easily do the stair tread or the riser. Many people really liked this feature.
The 20 ft cord can be neatly wrapped around the back end (base) end for storage and has a clip to keep it snug. There were a couple who mentioned that you need to be careful to wrap it snug or it would fall off again saying they thought the groove was too shallow.
There were a few mentions that the prongs in the plug seem too small and that it falls out easily if you don’t keep slack in the cord which shouldn’t be too big a problem as it has a 20-foot power cord.
A couple of people mentioned that there’s a rubber flap in the dust container that’s supposed to keep dirt from falling back into the hose and that the flap doesn’t cover the hole completely anymore. One said that it didn’t pose a problem most times, but once in a while when they used it to suck up bugs that they eventually escape

Hoover LINX Cordless Stick Vacuum Reviews
We were able to find several dozen reviews for the Hoover LINX Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner and after careful study of the reviews, we found that about 95 % of the reviewers gave this product their approval. So many people commented on the great cleaning ability, lightweight design, and easy storage. Several reviewers said they were happy not to have to plug and unplug a cord throughout the vacuuming.
Many were impressed by the fact that the battery fuel gauge with bright led lights shows how much power is still left and that the lithium-ion battery kept full charge all the way thru the vacuum cleaning session. Several people mentioned that the placement of the on/off switch for the roller was very handy to go easily from bare floor to rug or carpet.
There were a few negative comments as well. Some wished the stick vac had a grip handle for use on stairs. A few people did not think it was as powerful for deep cleaning as the larger full-size vacuum cleaners but that it was fantastic for quick cleanups. Some said it did not do as good a job on a thick plush carpet as it did on another carpet, rug, and bare floors.
One lady said she wished there was an extra filter because Hoover recommends that you let the washable filter dry for 24 hours after washing but did say at least it was a sturdy foam filter..1/2″ thick and 3″ in diameter and not flimsy like many of the bagless vacuum cleaners on the market.
Some people said the battery power only lasted about 10 minutes and they had to hurry to get through three rooms while others said they could easily finish five rooms and that the battery lasted for 15 minutes. The Hoover company says the batteries last for about 15 minutes on their video. The main complaint was definitely the fact that they thought the Hoover Company should include an extra battery for the price and they thought to purchase an extra battery was a bit on the expensive side. I believe Hoover has lowered the battery price by about $20

Most reviewers loved the canister with its convenient onboard tools and shoulder strap which is easy to carry around for those above the floor jobs that is harder to reach lifting a full size vacuum cleaner. Some said they missed having the onboard tool attachments on the upright vacuum cleaner itself but most found the portable canister to be a very useful companion to the upright.
The fact that it was light and portable so you could easily reach the ceiling fans and whip it outside to clean your car was a plus for most people. Most reviewers mentioned specifically that both the upright and the canister picked up pet hair with ease although a few did not find the canister as powerful as they would like it to be especially on the stairs and most of them did say that that they found the canister to be loud and noisy with a few saying that they found the attachments fell off easily. Features You Should Look After
Most of the reviewers agreed on this one thing: The Hoover Tempo Widepath Upright Vacuum is one of the most powerful vacuum cleaners they had ever used with one person saying “Like a dog on a leash this vacuum is raring to go and I have to step lively to keep up with it! The Tempo picks up cat hairs with great enthusiasm, and as another reviewer noted, the air leaving the vacuum is sweet-smelling with no dust.” This is due to the filtering system.
One lady said to hang on to your dust ruffles! It works great on carpet, but you must make sure you don’t leave it sitting on your carpet while you use the wand because the brush keeps spinning and will damage your rugs and carpets.
Most reviewers agreed that this powerful monster was excellent for pet hair.
The power cord is attached at the bottom of the vacuum cleaner and can easily get under your feet or the vacuum. A few reviewers said that it actually did get stripped and damaged after getting caught under the vacuum cleaner. Someone said they remedied this problem by running the cord up the handle and taping it with the electrician’s tape.
Most reviewers found it to be fairly lightweight for a full size upright and the stair cleaning handle on the front to be convenient and light enough to use on stairs although there were a few comments to the contrary where people said they found it too heavy for the stairs.
Don;t Forget this rules
Apparently Hoover has replaced their beloved old Hoover Tempo Widepath Upright Vacuum Bagged, U5140-900 model in 2010 with a cheaper version which is made with cheap flimsy plastic and is missing the bright headlight and full indicator light present on the older model. They have not changed the model number therefore many people thought they were getting the beloved old vacuum cleaner and were disappointed when they received this new flimsy model. Some said that it was top heavy as well when using the attachment hose.
Also, when using the wand you must pull one end of the hose out of the machine to attach to the wand. There is no roller shutoff while using the attachment hose and the brush keeps spinning on the floor, so it kicks up dust through the uncovered hose connector and sometimes spits things around on bare floors. There is a small cover/flap that is supposed to cover the hole where the hose comes out but some complained that it is very cheap, doesn’t seal the hole properly, and sometimes even pops off. One lady mentioned that she had to add some duct tape to keep it in place so it didn’t come off and get lost.
This model does not get around the baseboards good enough so you need to use the attachment hose to get close to enough to clean properly.
Some said the machine attachments were cheaply made and fell off easily while others did not seem to have this problem.
Which one to go for and why?
The power cord is a bit shorter than some people like and several complained that the attachment cord is way too short, flimsy and stiff and can get permanently kinked fairly easy. The hose and wand together don’t quite make it up to an 8 ft. ceiling which is necessary if you want to get those cobwebs that seem to magically appear every few days.
The most common complaint was that the belt broke easily and sometimes it even almost burned causing a nasty burning smell. This could sometimes be caused by not having the height adjustment set properly for the surface being vacuumed but a few said the problem still persisted even when the height adjustment was correct
with some saying that it worked much better on lower carpeting than on high pile carpets.
Although the Hoover Tempo Widepath Upright Vacuum, Bagged, U5140-900 does not have all the bells and whistles, most reviewers were happy with their purchase and thought it was a good buy at such a low price point.
Out of over 2100 reviews, we found on Amazon alone there were over 1100 positive reviews. Even some of the negative reviews still stated that it was an ok buy for the money spent.
If you don’t mind replacing a few belts, bags and don’t expect the vacuum cleaner to last for a long time this vacuum cleaner (as one lady put it) could be considered a throwaway item and is certainly cheap enough to replace if necessary. Several people said they would purchase it again and that it was still a great value at under $80.00.
One woman said this and I quote: “My main complaint is that in it’s third year the on/off switch went out. I’ve spent two weeks researching other vacuums, trying to keep from buying this one again, but haven’t found a better one yet for the price“.
Personally, I would rather put the $80 toward a machine that had a better track record. That is just my own opinion.

Hoover’s new Windtunnel T-Series Rewind Upright Vacuum, Bagless, UH70120 combines an attractive lightweight design with high-performance cleaning power at an affordable price point also featuring Hoover’s patented Windtunnel Technology with air passages that trap dirt channelling it into the dirt cup, thus keeping the dirt from blowing back onto your clean floor.
This hi-tech bagless vacuum has ingenious options, such as an automatic rewind cord for a quick and easy wrap-up and a height adjustment feature to easily go from one-floor type to another with the click of a button. Hoover Windtunnel T-Series Rewind Upright Vacuum, Bagless, UH70120 Reviews
Most of the reviewers were impressed with the suction and super cleaning power of this vacuum cleaner and the lightweight sleek design making for easy manoeuvring between furniture pieces and quick and easy storage. Very easy to assemble requiring only 1 screw.
Everyone loved the retractable cord feature although many people said that it heated up if not completely pulled out while vacuuming as it is wound close to the motor. According to one lady, there was apparently a recall issued on this vacuum (dependent on the date manufactured and date code printed on the product) due to the cord heating, and therefore could be a possible fire/shock hazard.
The hoover company is very forthright about this issue posting a special notice to their customers concerning Hoover Windtunnel T-Series Rewind Bagless Upright Vacuums distributed before November 23, 2009. I have listed these models and numbers below with a number to call for your convenience.
There were those who had a problem with the cord getting underfoot and even getting caught and stripped under the vacuum either because they had not used the clip on the handle to keep it out of the way or that the clip had broken. One or two said they just taped the cord to the handle which of course solved the problem.
Those who purchased the Hoover Windtunnel T-Series were happy to have the adjustable settings feature which allows you to vacuum different heights of rugs, carpet, or bare floors although this model does not have the on/off feature for the beater bar therefore we found that many of the reviewers did not use the vacuum cleaner on bare floors as the beater bar kept spinning and of course scattered the dirt around instead of sucking it up as it is supposed to do. There were a few who said it worked fine for them even on bare floors on the highest adjustment height.
Also several people said they did not like the fact that the beater bar could not be turned off when the vacuum cleaner is standing in the upright position while using the attachment tool thus creating continuous movement over the carpet and potential carpet damage. One person mentioned that they laid it on its back while using the attachments so it would not keep spinning on the carpet. One woman had this to say and I quote:
“I rather pay more for a vacuum that has the ability to turn that off – and I did – I bought it’s “brother” the hoover Windtunnel “PET” UH70210 which has 3 additional features. Besides the pet functions (which I don’t need), the Hoover UH70210 WindTunnel® T-Series WindTunnel Pet Rewind Bagless Upright has A) a headlight, B)brush roll SHUTOFF with a simple foot lever, and C) the handle can flip down to save space/height. But the main point is the shutoff for me!”
That brings our attention to the fact that this model does not feature a light that many people said they would like to have although some said this was a minor detraction.
